The Things That Go Down In High School

Enjoy your High School Experiences

When I was still in high school (I am currently on summer vacation), the most common conversation that would circulate around my school would either be “I can’t wait until spring break” or “I can’t wait until summer holiday”. I can’t blame the people who have said those things, in all seriousness, I agreed to some extent.

But if you asked me about what I considered about the people who were just pacing and obsessing over the next the break or holiday, I candidly think that they’re all wasting their time at school, and just focusing on the wrong things.

The majority of people that go to high school perceive it as something negative or a somewhat drag that they have to partake in everyday. But on contrary to what that fraction of people think, more optimistically I think that high school is a great place not only for learning, but also for making great friends and creating imposing memories that will still be remembered as if it were just yesterday.

What I’m trying to essentially put out there is to ENJOY your life in high school. Enjoy having fun with the friends you made. Enjoy learning new and fascinating things. Enjoy being taught by the teachers you’ve had. Enjoy all the enemies you have stood up to. Enjoy all of the cool fun projects you’ve done. Enjoy the good cafeteria food. ENJOY. ENJOY. ENJOY.

Trust No one. Rely on Yourself, and only Yourself.

Trust No One. Take this as a word of advice. I learnt this the hard way.

I realized shortly after the 2 fruitful years I’ve spent in high school, that I can trust no one, only myself. It’s fact that no one truly has your back in high school – it’s basically an everyman for himself free for all, and that’s the cold hard truth.

That is why we need to learn in high school, and also in areas like the workplace, to rely on one’s self.

The genuine reason why I decided to write about this topic is that when I went into high school I thought that my friends would have my back or provide the support when I truly needed it – but I couldn’t even trust them. What I didn’t know was that in reality, people can be so cold as to turn their backs on you in the click of your fingers.

If you think you have someone that you can rely on to help you, to support you and have your back, think again. If you deeply reflect about the previous statement, you’ll understand the only person that can do that all is yourself.

Being independent is something that is particularly hard especially in situations in high school, but it can definitely be overcome. Relying on yourself is something so key, it will benefit hugely on a long term.

So hopefully from this you’ll learn something new, and give you a reality check. Take my advice hoping that it will help you in future endeavors.

The Obnoxious Truth about High School Girls

Girls. I don’t know about you, but in my school the girls undoubtedly dominate the boys in terms of numbers. The ratio approximately being for every 1 boy, there are 3 girls. It may not sound like much, but trust me, there are a lot.

I noticed that the girls in my school naturally segregate themselves into little groups, where they hang out with a small group of friends who share the same interests. This may seem awfully cliché, but examples of girls groups that are distinctly conspicuous include –

  • The material girls – the girls that care more about their hair, makeup, clothes and jewelry more than their grades.
  • The happy-go-luckies – the girls that are always happy, active and say hello the first.
  • The “too coo for you’s” – the girls that talk down to you, thinking that you’re someone inferior compared to them, and the girls who think they’re too cool for school. Hey that rhymed!
  • The Sports fanatics – the girls that love sports, and aren’t afraid to play a good game of soccer with the boys.
  • The Non existents – the girls that you don’t really notice, because they hang out only with their posse, but you know they exist.
  • The intellects – the girls that would rather spend their recesses in the library rather than in a cafeteria.

These are the ones that stick out for me, and I’m sure they at least relate to some extent in comparison to other schools. I have nothing against these groups, I just wanted to put them out there.

Now don’t get me wrong. All high school girls are different, they are all individuals – but there are certain things that all girls have in common and all are familiar to. Just like boys too, they can all share at least one thing they all like.

These are just the tip of the iceberg things that all girls in my high school, in my opinion, all have in common –

  • BOYS. All girls have a soft spot for different boys – some more than others. The same thing goes for boys when it comes to girls.
  • NEAT HAND WRITING. No matter how hard I try, I will never have good hand writing. This may just be for me, but this common stereo type applies largely to the girls in my school.
  • PHONES. This is one of my biggest pet peeves – the girls that are always on their phones. Whether they’re texting, instagramming, or surfing the internet, it bluntly just bothers me. And yes, all of the girls in my school are like this.
  • PERFUME. All of the girls smell nice – not that I smell them. But never wear too much perfume – it will overwhelm lots of people.
  • HANDBAGS. Most, not all, of the girls carry around hand bags instead of normal school bags around the school. In my opinion, it’s not something bad, but it just is a little bit too mature, if you know what I mean.
  • MUSIC. I think if I were to choose something that every girl in my grade would have in common is that they all completely love music. When they’re given the chance to use their phones in class, the first thing they would do is plug in their ear phones and commence the music.

I hope from this you’ll understand what the girls are like in my school, and with any luck you would have enjoyed this blog. 😀

This long-winded journey contributes to a large fraction of everyone’s lives – in fact; I’m still struggling to find my way through it.

Hi, I’m Oninotna – just another one in the crowd, another “average joe” simply trying to survive in high school.

High School to me is definitely a handful – and I know tons of people who can relate. I find it best to describe it as a “diverse mesh of people, personalities and cultures” only because I go to an international high school that varies in nationalities, people and etc.

Every day that I go to school, it never seizes to excite me because I know for sure I’m going to encounter something new – whether it’s going to be meeting a new person, learning new things, or even doing new things – I’m always going to discover something fascinating, that I haven’t experienced before.

And that is why I decided to start my very own blog.

I have always had a strong fervor for writing, so I thought it would be remarkable if I could publish my high school stories to share with you on this blog. Trust me; there are a lot of them. I could even give my own personal advice to you hoping that it’ll help you – and besides, I’m an actual high-schooler (It’s going to be certainly refreshing from my perspective.

I look forward to writing more and I hope that you’ll love my blog and the interesting experiences about the things that go down in High School. I guarantee, this blog will keep you on your feet. 😉
